Robert "Bob" Stricker of Longton, Kansas was taken from this world too soon at the age of 57 on December 23, 2021 in Longton, Kansas.  He was born October 22, 1964 in Billings, Montana to Edward and Cathleen (Schlegel) Stricker.

Bob grew up alongside three siblings, moving around the country following his dad's career as an airplane mechanic in the United States Air Force.  Eventually the family ended up in Wichita, Kansas.  Bob attended school in Kiowa, Kansas where he graduated from high school.  He went on to further his education at an Auto Mechanic Technical School in Wichita and learned a trade that would continue to be a passion of his for the rest of his life.  He loved working on vehicles, and everyone knew if they needed something fixed to just bring it to him.

In his early 40s, Bob moved to the Elk County area and worked at different restaurants before making Longton his home.  For the last five years, he worked at Elk Valley schools.  He was known to be a warm and caring person with a huge heart.  The staff and children at Elk Valley adored him and will miss his big smile.

Bob was loved by everyone in the community that knew him, and he was known to help anyone in need, whether it was mechanical work or taking care of people.  He always had that big smile on his face and was given the nickname, "Smiling Bob".

Bob is survived by his sister, Lori McGinnis of Kansas City, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Chrystal Hawkins, Jonathan Stricker, Nathan Wright, Mandy Stricker, Preston Jones, and Duncan Jones and a community full of friends.

Cremation has been requested with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Longton United Methodist Church.  Inurnment will follow at the Longton Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Bob's name can be made to the organization of your choice and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
