Norma Lucille Lord, age 88, entered into the loving arms of Jesus, her Savior, on June 29, 2021.  She was born on August 28, 1932 in Hilltop, Kansas to Francis W. and Eda K. (Guenther) Light.

The family later moved to Howard, Kansas where Norma grew up.  She graduated from Howard High School and married Bill Lord, the love of her life, on May 19, 1950.  They welcomed two children into the world and were married for almost 50 years before Bill passed away on March 31, 2000. 

Norma was a homemaker until her children were in high school.  She the started a career at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, working there for over 20 years.  All who knew Norma, or GG as she was affectionately called, got to experience her kindness and willingness to help and care for others.  Many a delicious meal was enjoyed at her table along with wonderful conversations and much laughter. 

Her greatest joy in life was her family which includes daughter, Kathy (Lloyd) Van Dever of Augusta, Kansas; grandchildren, Nathan (Emily) Van Dever of Wichita, Kansas, Natalie (Brian) Van Dever-Turpin of Wichita, Kansas, Ryan (Janell) Van Dever of Wichita, Kansas, Justin Lord, Sr. of Wichita, Kansas, Travis (Dawn) Lord of Augusta, Kansas, and Elizabeth (Jared) Lord-Matke of WaKeeney, Kansas; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sisters, Harriet Hyler of Howard, Kansas and Jean Long of Clearwater, Kansas; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and her siblings, Lillian Hyler, Irene Britton, Joe Light, and Charles Light.

Visitation with family will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta, Kansas.  Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta, Kansas.  Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the DAV or Kansas Honor Flight and may be left in care of Dunsford Funeral Home, 201 E. 5th Avenue, Augusta, Kansas 67010.
