Marilyn Marie Thompson, 72, of Howard, Kansas, passed away January 10, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi S. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.  She was born October 5, 1948 in Pasadena, California to Ivah (Dewey) and Clifford Britain.

Marilyn graduated from East High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1966.  She also graduated from Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas with a CNA degree.  Marilyn worked extensively with mentally, physically, and disabled individuals.  This was her passion and calling.  She worked at Wyoming State Hospital early in her career as well as the Kansas State Hospital in Winfield, Kansas.  She will be remembered for her caring, loving, and dedication to her patterns.

Marilyn married Walter Thompson on August 20, 1971.  He preceded her in death by October 2, 1998. 

Marilyn's many interests included crafting, sewing, ceramics, and spending as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren.  She was very active in her church and loved her church family very much. 

Survivors include her sister, Patty (James) Alexander and Barbara Courtois; her daughters, Deanna (Mikie) Cloens, Janice (John) Hensy, and Sam (Jeff) Johnston.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Stormy, Thunder, Lightning, Windy, Dusty, Samantha, John, Charlie, Vinny, and Niki; great-grandchildren Adrianna, Caitlynn, Waylan, Chelsea, Peyton, Cameron, Emma, Wyatt, Whitley, Cheyenne, Brooklyn, William, Gracie, Cooper, Coleman, John Walter, Oakleigh, and Bentlee; and one gret-great-grandson, Conagher.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents, Ivah and Clifford Britain; and her great-grandson, Blake Douglass Stapleford.

A memorial service was held on January 15, 2021 at the Howard Independent Baptist Church in Howard, Kansas with Pastor Darrell Spicer and Pastor James Alexander officiating.  A memorial was established in honor of Wyatt Franks to the Downs Syndrome Society of Wichita, 9415 E. Harry Street, Suite 405, Wichita, Kansas; Cancer Center Memorial at Susan B. Allen Hospital in El Dorado, Kansas; and the Howard Independent Baptist Church Missionary Fund in Howard, Kansas.  Baker Funeral Home, 6100 E. Central Avenue, Suite 201, Wichita, Kansas 67208 was entrusted with arrangements.
