Colleen B. Dewey, age 87, of Independence, Kansas, passed away March 4, 2021 in Independence.  She was born December 2, 1933  in Fall River, Kansas to Russell and Mollie Belle (Flock) Phillips.

Colleen grew up in the Howard, Kansas area and graduated from Howard High School in 1951.  In 1955, she married Douglass L. Dewey.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Independence Bottling, Selby Appliance, and Independence Country Club.  She was a member of civic clubs, the VFW Auxiliary, and Sassy Sisters.  She loved trips with her friends.

Survivors include her children, Douglas Dewey, Jr. of Independence, Kansas and Sonja Peebles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007; her parents; four brothers; two sisters; and a grandson.

Memorial Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Friends Church in Independence with Pastor John Penrose officiating.  Private family inurnment will be held at Harrisonvile Cemetery southwest of Independence, Kansas.  The family has entrusted the arrangement of the services to Webb Family Funeral Service of Independence, Kansas.
