Alice Marie DeLong, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 at her home in Andover, Kansas.  She was born July 10, 1930 in Coffey County, Kansas to Ira and Alice F. McCullough.

Alice was part of a large and loving family with three brothers and seven sisters.  She was joined in marriage to Wendall "Red" DeLong on October 15, 1949 in Emporia, Kansas.  They spent their married life in dedication to public service.  Alice worked as a dispatcher and office manager for the Elk County Sheriff's Office and a deputy in the Montgomery and Woodson Counties Treasurers' Offices as her husband served as a trooper in the Kansas Highway Patrol.  Her children fondly remember her assisting as a dispatcher with them in tow.

Although Alice spent her career as a public servant, her most important job was as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Nothing gave her more happiness and joy than spending time with her family.  Her grandchildren will tell you stories about their favorite food she always had prepared when they visited and holidays filled with love and excitement.  She had an amazing gift for making each of her children and grandchildren confident that they were her favorite.

Alice is survived by her children, Bill (Rita) DeLong, Ava (Ted) Farid, Linda DeLong, and Roger (Debbie) Delong:   her grandchildren, Dawn (Chris) Rouse, Wes (Jamie) DeLong, Bryan (Trish) DeLong, Heather (Ryan) Liess, Rebecca (Wes) Milburn, Brandon (Liz) Ohmie, Krista Ohmie, and Brock (Stephanie) DeLong; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Ileene Newsome and Lucille Atherly; and sister-in-law, Hazel Lynn.  She also leaves many other cherished family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wendall; her beloved granddaughter, Amber Spencer; and siblings, Lillian McCullough, Victor McCullough, Wilma Carlton, Fred McCullough, Mildred Truelove, Beryle McCullough, and Ann Lou From.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the funeral service will be held graveside at Graceland Cemetery in Burlington, Kansas on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  The family asks that all who attend adhere to COVID-19 safety precautions  and wear a mask.  Memorial contribuitions may be made to Yates Center Friends for Life in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O.
