Glen R. Trogdon, age 97, passed away on January 18, 2021 in the home of his granddaughter in Arkansas City, Kansas.  He was born in 1923 to William F. and Lillie M. (Crumm) Trogdon near Anadarko, Oklahoma.  He had two sisters who are both deceased:  Vivian Hughes of Verden, Oklahoma and Maxine Harris of Cement, Oklahoma.  Glen attended rural school and later the city public schools in the Anadarko area.

Glen was a  WWII veteran serving in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign with the United States Army, 1128th Engineer Combat Group, 5th Armored Division, 88th Cavalry from July 10, 1944 to December 24, 1946.  Before his honorable discharge, he had fought battles across France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany while driving a Light Tank M24 Chaffee tank.  He was involved in three major battles.  Glen reported that his pay was $78 a month.

In 1957, Glen moved to Grenola, Kansas where he was working in the oil fields.  Afterwards, he was employed in the maintenance department at Binney & Smith Crayola in Winfield, Kansas for 23 years before he retired.  On April 17, 1981, he married Virginia L. (Howe) Wadleigh.  This marriage and a previous marriage instantly made him a stepfather, grandfather,and eventually a great-grandfather.  Virginia preceded Glen in death on May 17, 2020,

During his lifetime, Glen loved hunting for may years and owned several coon hounds.  He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren fishing at various private locations.  He liked horses, rodeos, and socializing with local farmers and cowboys.  He often used his welder to repair farm equipment, do other jobs, and to teach a grandson to weld.  He helped his neighbors in any way that he could  His favorite music was southern gospel by the Gaither Vocal Band and Gaither Friends.  Glen was a father figure to several young men in the community and a wonderful, loving grandpa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Glen is survived by his stepchildren, Donald Sinnett of Lenexa, Kansas, Brent (Sara) Wadleigh of Arkansas City, Kansas, Greg (Tammy) Wadleigh of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Paula (Steve) Hansen of El Dorado, Kansas; his step-grandchildren, Leah Sinnett, Hannah Sinnett, Robert (Nonette) Wadleigh, Mary (Dan) Chapman, Virginia "Ginny" Wadleigh, Andy (Stephanie) Wadleigh, Amy (Curtis) Jewett, Joe (Courtney) Nitschke, Abi (Chris) Streeter, Rose Hansen, Adam (Bridget) Hansen, Steven Moberg, and Lisa Powers; his great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews in Oklahoma, Don Hughes, Jim Hughes, Bill Hughes, Ronnie Harris, Bill Harris, Brenda Henry, Sandy Wilson, and Carolyn Cottrell.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia; and his two sisters.

A graveside memorial service and U.S. flag presentation will be held on April 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cambridge Cemetery in Cambridge, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Glen's honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Contributions my be made through Miles Funeral Service, P.O.
