Deloris Jean Sutton, age 77, formerly of Sedan, Kansas, passed away on December 2, 2020 at her daughter's home in Kansas, Oklahoma.  She was born April 18, 1943 in Sedan, Kansas to Albert Leroy Gilliam and Alma Louise (Burdett) Bainter.

Deloris attended school in Sedan until eighth grade and later received her GED.  On August 30, 1957, she married Joseph Arthur Sutton in Sedan.  They made their home in Columbus, Kansas for twenty years before returning to Sedan in 1993.  After raising her children, Deloris went to nursing school at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas where she obtained her Register of Nursing degree.  She worked in Joplin, Missouri, Cedar Vale, Kansas, and Sedan, Kansas hospitals for many years as well as Home Health.  She retired in 2013.

Deloris was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sutton on March 31, 2014.  After selling her farm in rural Sedan, she moved to Columbus, Kansas where she lived for 6 1/2 years before moving to her daughter's home earlier this year.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in Sedan and loved sewing, painting, crafting, and flowers.

Deloris is survived by three sons, Jody (Patty) Sutton of Columbus, Kansas, Jeff (Erin) Sutton of Shawnee, Kansas, and John (Jackie) Sutton of Topeka, Kansas; three daughters, Dana (Stephen) Burgess of Rogers, Arkansas, Dorothy (Don) Reese of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Jenny Shilts of Columbus, Kansas; one brother, Harold Leroy (Colleen) Gilliam of Pineville, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Larry David Gilliam; her parents; and her great-grandson, Zane Reese.

Church services were held on December 7, 2020 at the First Christian Church in Sedan, Kansas with Penny Goldberg officiating.  Burial followed at the Greenlwn Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas.  The family has suggested memorials to the St. Jude Children's Hospital which may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361 who were entrusted with arrangements.
