Jack O. Shelton, 76, of Newkirk, Oklahoma and formerly of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away November 5, 2020 at the William Newton Hospital in Winfield, Kansas.  He was born on February 6, 1944 in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Alfred and Merle (Siler) Shelton.

Jack was reared and educated in Leon, Kansas and Howard, Kansas, graduating from Howard High School in 1962.  He served in the United States Navy.  He married Marie Sumner on September 9, 1962 in Dexter, Kansas.  Jack worked as a farmer, for the Rodeo Meat/Mauer-Neuer Packing Plant, and later as road maintenance man for the Kansas Department of Transportation.  He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. 

Survivors include his daughter Judy (Yeshwant) Hiwrade of Winfield, Kansas; his brothers, Wendell (Sharian) Shelton of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Tom (Macaria) Shelton of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Larry (Glenda) Shelton of Winfield, Kansas; sister, Vivian (Arlo) Tyler of Blossom, Texas; four granddaughters, Miriam Hiwrade, Rachel Hiwrade, Sarah (Brad) Young, and Abby Hiwrade; and four great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie in August 2011; and his son, Mark Shelton in December 1982. 

Graveside services were conducted on November 12, 2020 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas.  A memorial was established with the American Cancer Society.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.  Arrangements were entrusted to Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory, 100 E.
