Brenda Kay McPherson, age 61, passed away on September 23, 2020 at Shawnee Gardens Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Shawnee, Kansas.  She was born in Wellington, Kansas on February 24, 1959 to George and Lydia (Haury) McPherson.

Brenda was raised in Longton, Kansas and attended local schools there, graduating from Elk Valley High School.  She continued her education in Wichita, Kansas where she earned her nursling license.  She met John Hernandez, and the couple was united in marriage.  They were blessed with their son, Manuel, and the couple later divorced..

Brenda was proud of her accomplishments as a nurse.  Her caring heart made her a natural caregiver.  She worked many years at the Robert T. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. 

Brenda enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, being around her family, and talking on the phone with her family and friends.  Brenda was a strong person who never backed down from anything.  She never gave up.

Brenda's memories will live on with her son, Manuel (Christina) Hernandez; her sisters, Georgia Crowell, Judy Wilson, and LaVita (Joey) Diem; and her grandchildren; Leif, Jazmin, and Trysten Hernandez.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carma Edmondson. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Howard United Methodist Church in Howard, Kansas with Pastor Susan Galvan officiating.  Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Tuesday, September 29 2020 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  To share a memory or leave a message of condolence, please visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com.  Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Avenue, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337 has been entrusted with service arrangements.
