Brandon Dwight Vernon Mattocks, age 40, of Arkansas City, Kansas and formerly of Cedar Vale, Kansas, passed away on September 3, 2020 in Cedar Vale.  He was born December 16, 1979 in Sedan, Kansas to Oscar and Linda (Hull) Mattocks.

Brandon was raised in and educated in Cedar Vale, Kansas, graduating from high school there in 1998.  He married Cherie Dowler on September 21, 2002 in Conway Springs, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Rose Hill, Kansas before moving to Arkansas City.  Brandon worked as a journeyman for Westar/Evergy.  He enjoyed reading, playing video games with his sons, and drinking a cold beer.

Survivors include his wife, Cherie of the home; his sons, Collin (Taylan) Ford of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Miles Juul of Shidler, Oklahoma, and Braiden and Brigam Mattocks of the home; his parents, Oscar Mattocks of Cedar Vale, Kansas and Linda Tyler of Sedan, Kansas; his sister, Bronika Mattocks of Cedar Vale, Kansas; his brother, Brian Whitaker of Grant City, Missouri; and a granddaughter, Breckynn Ford.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his cousins, Robyn Allison and Nicki Puckett.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home Chapel in Arkansas City, Kansas.  Burial will follow at the Round Mound Cemetery north of Cedar Vale.   A memorial has been established with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rindt-erdman.com.  Arrangements are being made through the Rindt -Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory, 100 E. Kansas Avenue, Arkansas City, Kansas 67005.
