Donald Eugene Roe, age 82, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away on June 2, 2020 at his home.  He was born on September 5, 1938 in Arkansas City, Kansas to George and Margie (Gotchel) Roe.  He was raised alongside three brothers.

After high school, Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving three years active duty and two years in the Reserve.  On March 3, 1962, he married Edwanna "Sue" Hyatt in Grenola, Kansas.  They recently celebrated 58 years together, raising one son, Steve.

Don spent his life as a cowboy working on several different ranches over the years.  He spent 30 years working for the Eagle Head Ranch near Grenola while also working his own ranch raising cattle.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He will be remembered by all that knew him as a real cowboy and a man of his word.  He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Don is survived by his wife, Sue; his son, Bret Roe of Wichita, Kansas; and his brother, Robert (Marlys) Roe of Winfield, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George and Clyde. 

Cremation has been requested with no services at this time.  Memorial contributions in Don's name can be made to the Howard Senior Center Friendship Meals and can be mailed to or left with Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 which is in charge of arrangements.
