Charles Clifford Thomas, age 92, a rural Fall River, Kansas resident, passed away May 31, 2020 at his home.  He was born June 19, 1927 in rural Fredonia, Kansas to Grover and Alta (Ghrist) Thomas.

Charles graduated from Fall River High School in 1945.  On May 2, 1964, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Irma "Liz" Penner in Fredonia, Kansas, and she preceded him in death on May 15, 2009.  Charles was a rancher/farmer and enjoyed ranching, investing, and working and plowing the ground.  He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War.  He was a member of First Christian Church of Fredonia, Odd Fellows Society, and the REC board.

Survivors include his son, Jon (Shannon) Thomas of Fredonia, Kansas; his sister, Mary Viola "Vi" Welch of Moline, Kansas; his sister-in-law, Beulah Thomas of Longton, Kansas; his granddaughter, Samantha Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, Liz, Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bob Thomas; his sister, Estel Wilson; his brother-in-law, Leo Welch, and his brother-in-law, Lawrence Wilson.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 501 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.  Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 303 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.  Interment will follow services at the Fredonia City Cemetery.  Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Fall River BBQ, and they may be left with or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
