Virginia Lee Trogdon, age 88, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away May 17, 2020 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield. She was born February 14, 1932 on a farm north of Cambridge, Kansas, the daughter of Everett L. and E. Pauline Curfman Howe.

Virginia was raised in and received her education in the Cambridge area.  She attended the first three years of school at Box Rural School and later graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949.  She then attended Kansas College and Business College in Wichita, Kansas.

Virginia was married to Robert L. Wadleigh on January 31, 1952.  The couple had three children and later divorced.  Virginia worked as a secretary at Southwestern College for about two years before her children were born. She then began her career at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center where she started in volunteer services working her way up through secretarial positions and finally becoming the Secretary to the Superintendent.  She had 33 years of service before retiring in 1994.

Virginia was united in marriage to Glen R. Trogdon on April 17, 1981.  They lived in Grenola, Kansas until April 2019.  She was a member of the Cambridge Presbyterian Church and an associate member of the Grenola United Methodist Church. She served in many capacities in both churches.  She loved to be busy and on the go.  Virginia served on the Grenola cemetery board and participated in the United Methodist Women group.  She spent many hours studying her Bible.  Cooking was her all-time favorite thing to do, and she was famous for her cookies which could be found at many community events and well-stocked in her freezer.  Her cooking skills served her well during the family gatherings that she loved so much.  She was a skilled seamstress, sewing for her children and others for years plus sewing blankets and other items for grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.  Her favorite music included hymns and southern gospel such as the Bill Gaither Vocal Band.  Virginia was dearly loved by all who knew her.

Her family includes her husband, Glen Trogdon of Winfield, Kansas; her sons, Brent (Sarah) Wadleigh and Greg (Tammy) Wadleigh, all of Arkansas City, Kansas; her daughter, Paula (Steve) Hansen of El Dorado, Kansas; her sister, Judy (LeRoy) Rakestraw of Winfield, Kansas; her grandchildren, Robert (Nonette) Wadleigh, Mary (Dan) Chapman, Virginia "Ginny" Wadleigh, Amy (Curtis) Jewett, Andy (Stephanie) Wadleigh, Joe (Courtney)Nitschke, Abi Hansen, Rose Hansen, Adam Hansen, Steve Moberg, and Lisa Powers; her great-grandchildren, Robert Jr. "Toby", Landen, Layne, Anthony "Tony", Lucas, Allyson, Waylon, Kinsley, Kami, Morgan, and Bobby; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, Esta Lee Brunton.

Memorial services will be held at Miles Funeral Service on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.  Private burial will take place at the Cambridge Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials have been established to the Cambridge Presbyterian Church and the Grenola United Methodist Church.  Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Home, 9001 E. 9th Avenue, Winfield, Kasnas 67156 which is entrusted with arrangements.
