Mae Belle Mendez, 72, of Osage City, Kansas, passed away on April 6, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.  She was born on August 15, 1947 in Beaver, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph "Joe" and Marie (Dockum) Day.

Mae Belle grew up in rural Piedmont, Kansas and graduated from Howard High School in Howard, Kansas with the Class of 1965.  She married Ralphael Mendez on March 28, 1969.  She enjoyed sewing, leather crafting, reading, and Native American healing with herbs.

Survivors include her children, David Mendez and Chad Mendez, both of Topeka, Kansas; a stepdaughter, Anita Mendez of Topeka, Kansas; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her siblings, JoAnn, Charley, Emma (Alex), and Willie (Rita). 

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the KSU Cancer Center, 1 Chalmers Hall, Manhattan, Kansas 66506.  Dove SE Chapel of Topeka, Kansas has been entrusted with arrangements.
