Donald Leroy Young, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away March 6, 2020 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.  He was born July 17, 1937 in Elk Falls, Kansas to Howard and Gladys (Moffitt) Young.

Don grew up in Howard, Kansas and graduated from Howard High School.  In 1954, he joined the United States Navy and served for 20 years as an aviation electronics technician.  In 1957, he was married to Jeanine Doughty.

After his military service, Don worked as a corrections officer and at the Crayola factory in Winfield, Kansas.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting for quail and rabbits.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanine; his son, Gerald Young; and his daughter, Sheryl Young.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Evelyn Hamilton, Charles Young, and Frank Young.

Cremation has taken place, and no services were held.  Shelley Family Funeral Home in Winfield, Kansas was in charge of arrangements.
