Reed Kenton Rankin, age 21, of Fredonia, Kansas, passed away on December 29, 2019 at his home.  He was born on April 27, 1998 in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, the son of Rustin and Jeanne (DeLay) Rankin.

Reed was a graduate of Fredonia High School, Class of 2016.  He was currently a senior at the University of Kansas and had just gotten accepted into the KU Law School.  He was an avid history fan and enjoyed reading and collecting Eastern Bloc weaponry.  He enjoyed learning different languages and was currently studying Russian for his upcoming trip and was also a huge fan of HP Lovecraft.  While in high school, Reed was a Scholars Bowl Champion 4 years in a row.  He was a kind and gentle soul who loved his family and his cats, Smokey and Dante.

Reed is survived by his parents, Rustin and Jeanne Rankin of Fredonia, Kansas; his siblings, Ryan Rankin and Jeannette Rankin of Fredonia, Kansas; and his paternal grandmother, Avanelle Rankin of Longton, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Rankin and Jack and Karen DeLay.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11:30 A.M. at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas with cremation to follow.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Memorials have been suggested to the Fredonia Pound Pals and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736 is in charge of arrangements.
