James Robert "Jim" Myers, Jr., age 68, of Howard, Kansas passed away July 7, 2019 at his home.  He was born August 19, 1950 in Lilbourn, Missouri to James and Delma Myers.

Jim grew up on a share crop farm near Matthew, Missouri along with five siblings.  After graduating high school, he spent two years in the United States Army.  He then attended Arkansas State University, graduating with a Masters degree in Education.  He spent his career as a Vocational Ag teacher around the state of Missouri, many times helping kids find a way to stay in FFA and Vo Ag when schools were discontinuing the programs.

On April 1, 1976, Jim married Barbra Parker in Clarksville, Tennessee, spending the next 43 years as husband and wife.  They moved to Howard, Kansas in 2007.  They raised three children together, James III, Jacob, and Lenore.  One of their favorite things to do as a family was to travel around to any and all museums and animal parks in Kansas to tour them.

Jim was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, FFA, Retired Teachers Association, and was an active member of the AARP.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbra of the home; children, James Myers II of Howard, Kansas, Jacob Myers of Junction City, Kansas, and Lenore Daugherty of Parsons, Kansas; four grandchildren; and siblings, John Myers of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Spatsie Dehuff of Louisiana, and Terry Carmack of Essex, Missouri.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary; and many aunts and uncles.

Cremation has been requested.  The family will hold a graveside memorial service in Clarkton, Missouri at a later time.  Memorials in Jim's name are suggested to the Wounded Warriors and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.   Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
