Gary Lee Whittaker, age 64, of Severy, Kansas, passed away June 25, 2019 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas.  He was born May 5, 1955 in El Dorado, Kansas to Harold and Opal Whittaker,.

Gary grew up in Towanda, Kansas and attended Circle High School.  After school, he spent three years serving our country in the United States Army.  He worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, retiring after 26 years.  He was a member of the Masonic Hope Lodge #155 in Howard, Kansas.

Gary was a loving and dedicated father who had an immense passion for his family and the outdoors.  When he wasn't working to provide for his family, he was passing down his love of hunting, fishing, gardening, and blowing stuff up (although not always on the 4th of July) to all his kids.

Gary is survived by his sons, Gary Whittaker Jr. of Milton, Wisconsin, Josh Whittaker of Yorba Linda, California, Trever Brooks (Whittaker) of Severy, Kansas, Travis "Corky" Whittaker of Roberts, Wisconsin, Trace Church of Severy, Kansas, and Broker Whittaker of Severy, Kansas; his daughters, Crystal Houchin and Crashena Wade, both of Severy, Kansas; his brother, Sam Whittaker of California; his sisters, Gladys Sherby of Blaine, Washington and Linda McVicker of Pennsylvania; 24 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Harold Whittaker III; his brothers, Albert, Larry, Charles, and Junior; and his sister, Glenda June.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Severy Baptist Church in Severy, Kansas.  Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery in Severy.  The family suggests memorials in Gary's name be made to the Masonic Hope Lodge #155 in Howard and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
