VAN BUSKIRK, Phyllis May (Clubine) - b. March 21, 1938 - d. February 27, 2019

Phyllis May VanBuskirk, age 80, passed away in El Dorado, Kansas on February 27, 2019.  Her life began on March 21, 1938 in Moline, Kansas, the daughter of George and Elsie (Lewis) Clubine.

Shortly after graduating from Moline High School, Phyllis was united in marriage to the love of her life, Garry VanBuskirk.  Garry and Phyllis owned and operated the Dairy Queen in El Dorado, Kansas for 53 years, and it is still being operated by the family.  She was a member of the Kansas Dairy Queen Association, serving on their Board of Directors for 15 years and holding every position on the board.

Phyllis and Garry were members of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, enjoying many trips, and Phyllis also served on that board and received many awards for her service.  She was also a member of the First Christian Church in El Dorado, Kansas.

Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband, Garry VanBuskirk of El Dorado, Kansas; her children, Dorthy Stafford of McPherson, Kansas and David (Karen) VnBuskirk of San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Mikayla VanBuskirk, Andrew (Jessica) Stafford, and Allycen (Ryan) Burton; her sisters, Fern Boyer of Augusta, Kansas and Virginia Tharp of Severy, Kansas; her brother, Dale (Barbara) Clubine of Moline, Kansas; several nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Bud McNown.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Warren Clubine, Ben Clubine, Mildred McNown, and Robert Clubine. 

Funeral services were held on March 5, 2019 at the First Christian Church in El Dorado, Kansas led by Pastor Stan Seymour.  Burial was held in Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kansas.  Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to First Christian Church, 300 W. Central Avenue, El Dorado, Kansas 67042.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.carlsoncolonial.com.  Carlson Colonial Funeral Home of El Dorado, Kansas was in charge of arrangements.
