Darrell Dee Burdette, age 86, of rural Grenola,  Kansas, passed away December 20, 2018 at his home.  He was born on July 26, 1932 in rural Chautauqua County, Kansas to Clarence Burdette and Mabel (French) Burdette.

Darrell attended Wolf Creek School before graduating from Grenola High School in 1951.  In 1955, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1957.  On January 28, 1962, he married Louise Campbell in Grenola, Kansas, and they made their home in the Grenola area their entire lives.

Darrell lived and worked on the MKO Ranch in rural Chautauqua County, Kansas from 1964 until his death.  He was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association and was on the Big Caney Watershed Board for over 40 years.  He enjoyed ranching, taking pictures, and spending time with his family.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Louise Burdette of the home; three sons, Dwight Burdette and wife, Debbie of rural Grenola, Kansas, David Burdette and wife, Lanetta of rural Cambridge, Kansas, and Nelson Burdette and wife, Jackie of rural Grenola, Kansas; two sisters, Doris Brentlinger and husband, Marshall of Arkansas City, Kansas and Deloris Groene of Winfield, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Hannah Demaree, Megan Hahner, Curtis Burdette, Dan Burdette, Morgan Burdette, Braden Burdette, and Mattie Burdette; and five great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Wedman, Sterling Hahner, Natalie Demaree, Augustus Hadley, and Bronc Burdette.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Francis Groene.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grenola Methodist Church with Pastor Dena Allison officiating.  Inurnment will follow at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas.  The family has suggested memorials to the Grenola Fire Department, and contributions may be left in care of or mailed to the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361 which is in charge of arrangements.
