John David Eastburn, age 69, of Oak Valley, Kansas, passed away on November 10, 2018 at his home.  He was born on April 16, 1949 in Nebraska.

John attended college at The Univesity of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska where he played football and was known as the "White Tornado".  He played semi-pro for Austin, Texas, and was even invited to try out for the Oakland Raiders.  John had a diverse skill set including offshore welding, carpentry, and truck driving.  His interests involved snorkeling, scuba diving, and other water activities as well as travel and just being outdoors.  John was proud to have served his country in the United States Army and fought in Vietnam.

John is survived by his siblings, Pammy Eastburn of Alaska and Connie Wittenbrink of California; stepchildren, Kelly Robinson of Oak Valley, Kansas, Lisa McDermott of Austin, Texas, and Lori Blandy of Cordell, Oklahoma; and two nieces and two nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma Jane Clark; and his nephew, Casey.

Cremation has been requested, and no service will be held at this time.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Memorials have been suggested to Cancer Research or Veterans Flight and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
