Mary LaVerne Webb, age 72, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away September 10, 2018 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield, Kansas.  She was born on July 4, 1946 in Bronson, Kansas to Chester Henderson and Margie (Garrison) Henderson.

Mary graduated from Chanute High School in Chanute, Kansas with the Class of 1964.  After high school, she received her Registered Nurses License from the Mary Grimes School of Nursing in Chanute,  She moved to Sedan, Kansas in 1970 and worked as a Registered Nurse at the Sedan City Hospital for 42 years, retiring in 2014.  She was the Director of Nursing for many y ears.

Mary served actively on several boards throughout the years with the Sedan Area EMS, Sedan Senior Citizens, and the Sedan Public Library.  She enjoyed reading and crocheting.

Mary is survived by her seven children including five daughters, Janet Mitchell and husband, Rick of Elk Falls, Kansas, Kelly Zillner of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Cherilyn Bratton and husband, Ken of Augusta, Kansas,  Jacquelyn Bright and husband, Guy of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, and Monica Webb of Burlingame, Kansas; two sons, Billy Zillner of Sedan, Kansas and Troy Webb of Baldwin City, Kansas; 25 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, O. Neal Henderson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Sedan, Kansas with Pastor Penny Goldberg officiating.  A private family inurnment will be held in Chanute, Kansas.  The family has suggested memorials to the Sedan City Hospital which my be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
