Rita M. Bills, age 68, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on August 22, 2018 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born June 27, 1950 in El Dorado to Edgar and Cleo Mae (Burton) Stapleford.

Rita was a graduate of Severy High School in Severy, Kansas with the Class of 1968.  On June 1972, she married Carl Johnson, and they later divorced.  On December 29, 2009, she married Frank N. Bills.  They were married until his death on January 19, 2013.

Rita enjoyed taking care of everyone.  She loved cooking big family dinners and spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them.  She also like going camping and shopping and finding and refurbishing furniture.

Rita is survived by her son, Kent Johnson and wife, Stephanie of El Dorado, Kansas; her daughter, Nancy Johnson and husband, Jon of El Dorado, Kansas; stepchildren, Debbie Batson, Jackie Bills, and Teresa McKay, all of Severy, Kansas, and Kurt Thomas of Kansas City; brothers, John Stapleford of Golden, Colorado, Raymond and wife, Irene Stapleford of Severy, Kansas, David and wife, Sherry Stapleford of Eureka, Kansas, Harold and wife, Ronda Stapleford of Fredonia, Kansas, and Dale and wife, Jackie Stapleford of Yates Center, Kansas; her sisters, Patricia Stapleford of Augusta, Kansas, Mary Sanford and husband, Butch of Fall River, Kansas, and  Lisa Boyer of Augusta, Kansas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; her brother, Richard Stapleford; and her nephew, Blake Stapleford.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Severy United Methodist Church with Pastor Susan Galvan officiating.,  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas.  Visitation wilt be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 which is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials are suggested to Susan G. Komen Cure for Cancer or the American Diabetes Association and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.
