Janette Gayle Haverkamp, 58, passed away June 16, 2018 at her home in Garden City, Kansas.  She was born July 12, 1959 in Winfield, Kansas to James Randolf and Marian Pauline (Hart) Hunter.

Janette grew up in rural Howard, Kansas and graduated from West Elk High School in Howard with the Class of 1977.  She earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas and  a Law Degree from Washburn University Law School in Topeka, Kansas.  Janette served as a District Magistrate Judge in Elk County, and had been a Garden City resident since 1994. 

On August 8, 1980, Janette married Bryce Haverkamp in Howard, and he survives.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service was held on June 23, 2018 at the Garden City United Methodist Church.  Cremation has taken place.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.zieglerfuneralchapel.com.  Memorials are suggested to the Finney County Humane Society in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Street, Dodge City, Kansas 67801 which was in charge of arrangements.
