Delbert Vearl Forcum of Piedmont, Kansas, passed away on June 9, 2018 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, Kansas at the age of 92.  He was born on June 15, 1925 near Piedmont, Kansas, the son of Otto Vearle and Grace Laura (Bland) Forcum.

Delbert was raised in Piedmont and graduated from Piedmont High School.  After his schooling, he was drafted into the United States Army and served over two years in Hawaii during World War II with honor and dignity.  After his discharge, he returned to Piedmont where he ranched and farmed.  He later began driving an oil truck for Beaumont Drilling and Berentz Oil.  He drove a truck for his brother's company, Forcum's Trucking as well.

On September 16,1986, Delbert was united in marriage to Lois Edgar in Howard, Kansas.  They made their home in Piedmont, and Delbert raised his stepson.  Delbert was a member of the Beaumont Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2712, and the Otter Creek township board trustee.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Lois of the home, stepson, James E. Barr of Americus, Kansas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Otto "Dale"Forcum of Eureka, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one stepdaughter, Lisa Ann Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Beaumont Christian Church in Beaumont, Kansas with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating.  Interment will follow at Star Cemetery in Piedmont, Kansas.  Military honors are being provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2712.  Online condolences may be left for the family at koupfunerals.com.    In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2712 or to the Beaumont Christian Church.  Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045 which is overseeing arrangements.
