Richard Walcott Claytor, age 70, of Longton, Kansas, passed away on March 25, 2018 at his home.  He was born in Wellington, Kansas on March 10, 1948 to Thomas Mitchell and Alice Marie (Walcott) Claytor.

Richard graduated from Wellington High School.  After graduation, he began driving a cement truck until he bought his own semi, owning and operating his own truck for numerous years.  Richard was married to Bertha Wilson.  The couple was blessed with two sons and three daughters, losing one in infancy.  They later divorced.  He then met Loretta Kay Edwards, and the couple was united in marriage on May 9, 1982.  To this union, Richard gained three more sons and a daughter.

Richard and Kay owned and operated the Cozy In Cafe and later the Longton Grocery Store.  He enjoyed trading, playing music, gunsmithing, building model trains, making knives, and almost daily visits to find and trade treasures at the pawn shops.  Richard was a little set in his ways, and although reserved, he did host some of the biggest events in Longton, the Blues on the Green and the annual Easter Egg Hunt.  He was truly a jack-of-all-trades, having some knowledge in many fields.

Richard's memories will live on with his children, Mark Claytor (Stacy), Jennifer McMillan, (Josh), Dee Anna Claytor (Sheri), Bud Kill (Erin), Mack Kill, Ricky Kill (Carrie), and Stephanie Henning; grandchildren, Katrina Carr, Ashley Cook, Brett Henning, Hannah Henning, Byran Claytor, Emily Collins, David Jeter, Sean Claytor, Jerry Claytor, Cody Claytor, Cameron Claytor, Latonya Henry, Angie Madden, Kayla Dickey, Amber Claytor, Elizabeth Kill, Emma Kill, Spencer Kill, Madison Conder, McKinzie Petersen, Callie Hartman, Bry Thomas, Taylor Thomas, Merrick McMillan, Kimberley Bina-Claytor, Angelina Bina-Claytor, Juan Bina-Claytor, Aldo Bina-Claytor, and Kevin Bina-Claytor; and several great-grandchildren.  Richard now rests with his parents; his wife, Kay; his son, Sean Claytor; his infant daughter; and his brother, David Lee Claytor.

Honoring Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas.  Graveside memorial services will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Elk Falls Cemetery in Elk Falls, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating.  The family suggests memorials be made payable to the Shriners Hospital for Children, and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Avenue, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337 which is entrusted with arrangements.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
