Ricardo "Richard" Gallardo, age 89, formerly of Howard, Kansas, died January 22, 2018 at Via Christ St. Francis Hospice in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born on January 19, 1929 in Howard, Kansas, the son of Enrique "Henry" and Josefina (Fabian) Gallardo.

Richard was a graduate of the Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe, Kansas.  He worked most of his life as a Mill Carpenter.  He was an avid KU fan and enjoyed watching football and basketball games.  Richard loved to visit with friends and liked being out in the community.  He was an active member in the deaf community and for the Kansas School for Deaf Alumni.  Most of all, Richard enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews and supporting them throughout their life journeys.

Richard is survived by his siblings, Henry Gallardo Jr. of Wichita, Kansas, Maria Leddy of Columbus, Indiana, Amelia Hall of Wichita, Kansas, Socorro Montgomery of Arkansas City, Kansas, John Gallardo of Howard, Kansas, Anthony "Tony" Gallardo of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Theresa Kerr of Winfield, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Beatrice Aguilera, Carmen Chavez, and Gloria West.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas.  Rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.  Memorials have been suggested to the St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences for the family may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
