Kenneth Ronald Smith, better known as Ron or Ronnie, age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home in Haysville, Kansas.  He was born on August 28, 1941 in Howard, Kansas, the son of Owen Kenneth and Pauline (Corbin) Smith.

Ron grew up in the Elk County area and graduated from Howard High School.  On June 24, 1967, he married Carol Ann Young in Nowata, Oklahoma.  Ron and Carol have been married for 50 years and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  Ron retired from Electro Mech as a manufacturing engineer, but his true passions were family, the Baz-Z Rodeo Company, and working on the ranch and being a cowboy.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; his children, Michele Smith and Kevin Smith; his brother, Don Smith; his grandchildren, Tiffany Thomas, Zachary Smith, and Danielle Fullhart; his great-grandchildren, Aiden Overeem, Trayten McGathy, and Emma McGathy.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Pauline Smith; his sister, Paula Lanning;  and his daughter, Rhonda Andes.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Cresco Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  The family suggests memorials to the Elk County Fair Association Memorial Fund which may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Services are entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
