Morris E. "Stub" Wilson, 80, of Independence, Kansas, passed away on November 12, 2017 at Wilson Medical Center in Neodesha, Kansas.  He was born August 22, 1937 in Oak Valley, Kansas to George W. and Treva D. (Piesker) Wilson.

Stub graduated from Longton High School in Longton, Kansas.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy.  After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned home and married Judith I. Hare on April 1, 1960 in Independence, Kansas.  Stub and Judith made their home in Independence where he became employed by Coca Cola, StarCraft, and the United States Postal Service as a Postmaster.  Stub retired from the Post Office after 33 years. He then became employed as a U.S.D.A. inspector at the Bartlett Flour Mill in Coffeyville, Kansas for 23 years.

Stub will be remembered as a practical joker.  You never knew what he was going to do next.  He was very involved in baseball coaching of all ages and served on the board of the SEK Baseball Association.  During his youth, Stub was asked to play baseball for the Kansas City Athletics and the Baltimore Oriels, but he had to turn them down.  He and Judith founded the Kansas Limousin Cattle Association and traveled promoting the association and showing cattle.
 
Survivors include his wife, Judith of the home; a son, Marty Wilson of Independence, Kansas; a brother, Steve (Becky) Wilson of Independence, Kansas; six grandchildren, Levi (Dnae) Wilson of Wichita, Kansas, Matt Wilson and companion, Tiffany Coomer of Independence, Kasns, Coby Hanshaw and Colbie Hanshaw, both of Derby, Kansas, Trevor Wilson of Independence, Kansas, and Caleb Wilson of Derby, Kansas; and four great-grandchildren.  Stub was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Connie Ervin; and a son, Terry W. Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory in Independence, Kansas  with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas.
