Wouldn't it be better to leave one another alone rather than trying to bully each other into submission?

We were supposed to learn that lesson in primary school (that's what it used to be called before Red Republican Carl Schurz gave us "kindergarten" and the Yankees "elementary school") or from our mothers and grandmothers. Maybe the anti-secessionists never got the memo.

Either way, decentralization is the more humane and polite thing to do. If we can't see eye to eye, a peaceful divorce is preferable to a hostile marriage.

Wake-up!

This is going to be great to follow the next four or five years! Petitions need just over 585,000 signatures in a state that has nearly 19 and a half million registered voters. That's about a 3 percent signature rate. How difficult can that be in a state where both left and right have proposed secession?

Stand by Washington, DC, you will be put on notice when the initiative to secede is placed before California voters. There will be some political dollars spent in California, on both sides. Expect the election to get ugly, with every political hack campaigning to make a statement about secession in one light or another.

The Political Theatre has a new act to watch.
The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.

The greatest mistake in American history was letting government educate our children.

Wake-up!

And while the polarizing continues, unlikely alliances begin . . . . .

As some Californians push for their state to become its own country, they have an unlikely ally: Utah Rep. Paul Ray.
Ray, a conservative Republican from Clearfield — spurred by frustration over California's liberal politics and the "whining" of some of its residents about wanting to leave the United States — has started drafting a resolution for the 2018 legislative session that would offer support for the most populous state to secede from the union.
