Ellis W. Lovelady, age 77, of rural Moline, Kansas, passed away June 5, 2017 at the Derby Health and Rehab Center in Derby, Kansas.  He was born on March 13, 1940 to Frances Lovelady and Velma (Hatcher) Lovelady in Wichita, Kansas.

Ellis was raised in the Akron community and graduated from Winfield High School in Winfield, Kansas.  He later received his Bachelors of Marketing Degree from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. 

On July 1, 1961, Ellis married Ruth Ann Waller in Winfield, Kansas.  They lived in Denver, Colorado for five years before moving to El Paso, Texas where they lived for 34 years.  He worked as Assistant Controller and Business Manager for the Hotel Dieu Hospital for ten years.  He was also the first Business Manager for Eastwood Hospital in El Paso.  He later opened his own Farmers Insurance Agency in El Paso where he was an agent for 26 years.  He and Ruth Ann moved back to rural Moline, Kansas in 2004.

Ellis was a member of the Grenola Christian Church in Grenola, Kansas.  In El Paso, he taught Sunday School to 3rd and 4th graders for twenty years.  He and his wife founded Silver Cross Mission.  He was an avid golfer, loved feeding the deer and turkeys, and especially loved caring for his faithful dog, Bo.

Ellis is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth Ann Lovelady; two sons, Todd Lovelady and wife, Sharra of Kerrville, Texas and Scott Lovelady of Las Vegas, Nevada; and four grandchildren, Skye Lovelady, Eli Lovelady, Josh Lovelady, and Zach Lovelady.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Melvin Lovelady and Paul Lovelady.

A Celebration of Life service was held June 11, 2017 at the barn at the Silver Cross Mission in rural Moline, Kansas.  A private family burial was held at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas.  The family has suggested memorials be made to the Silver Cross Mission, and those remembrances may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361 which was in charge of arrangements.
