Maurice "Bob" Mustoe was born on December 29, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas.  His parents were Laura (Edwards) and Carl Glenys Mustoe.  He passed away on June 14, 2017 at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, California.

Bob moved to the farm south of Longton, Kansas as a youth.  Following the death of his father, he lived with his mother in Chicago, Illinois for a couple of years before returning to Longton for his senior year in high school.  Following graduation from Longton High School in 1948, he married Bonnie Truitt in August 1948.  Three children were born to this union, Cathy, Karen, and Mark.

During the years of his family growing up on the farm, Bob worked for DeCoursey's, Foremost, and the Union Gas System in addition to raising cattle.  He served on the school board for the Longton School District for many years and was actively involved in the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Starm and various other activities in the Longton area.  He was very involved with his family with their 4-H, school, sports, church, and other community activities.  He loved his family unconditionally, and he was always a "daddy who was there!".

Once the children had gradated from their prospective colleges and had established their lives in other parts of the country, in 1986 Bob and Bonnie moved to Escondido, California.  They spent the next 30+ years enjoying their lives living close to their daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Harvey Mitchell.  Bob worked for the Lawrence Welk Company and as a bank courier before his retirement.  He and Bonnie were actively involved with the Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido where they have many friends.  There were also many family reunions during those years.

Bob lived an honorable life, had many friends, and was greatly loved by his family.  He was a good man.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; his children, Cathy (Harvey) Mitchell of Valley Center, California, Karen (Gary) Crosslin of New Douglas, Illinois, and Mark (Kathy) Mustoe of Leawood, Kansas; grandchildren, Kaycia Buehler, Karissa Smith, Kailey Crosslin, Raymond Crosslin, Kent Mustoe, Whitney Mustoe, Lauren McCoy, Morgan Wassem, and Michael Mitchell; six great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Patsy Hoover; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Preceding Bob in death were his parents and his sister, Juanita Sullivan.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in  Howard, Kansas.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Longton United Methodist Church in Longton, Kansas with Dena Allison and Mack Byard presiding.  Interment will be at Longton Cemetery.  The family requests memorials to The Salvation Army or the Longton United Methodist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington,  Howard, Kansas.
