The settlements of La Paz and Bloomfield were established in the same year, 1872.

La Paz was about nine miles due west of Elk Falls. Mail deliveries arrived at the post office on a three day per week basis.

Bloomfield was about six miles due west of Elk Falls and three miles due east of La Paz. There was a post office.

La Paz lasted about two years. Bloomfield lasted a little longer going out after seven years.

In 1879, the Boston post office was renamed and moved about five miles north to the new settlement of Moline.
