Glenwild was about three miles south of the Greenwood County line, three miles east of the Butler County line and about 10 miles west of present day K-99. It was on the Rowe branch of the Elk River.

Lima was one mile north of Howard and 4 miles east. I heard my dad speak of Lima a few times.

Fiat was 4.5 miles north of Howard and 2.5 miles east. I went there one time as a little shaver but don't remember a thing.

Oak Ridge had a post office for about ten years and seems to have been replaced by Rancho for several years.
"If one of the many corrupt...county-seat contests must be taken by way of illustration, the choice of Howard County, Kansas, is ideal." Dr. Everett Dick, The Sod-House Frontier, 1854-1890.
"One of the most expensive county-seat wars in terms of time and money lost..." Dr. Homer E Socolofsky, KSU
