Clarence Eugene Taliaferro, age 69, of Severy, Kansas and part-time resident of Clinton, Iowa, passed away early in the morning on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his home in Severy.  He was born on December 26, 1947 in Eureka, Kansas to Louis Frank and Wilma (McMurray) Taliaferro.

Clarence graduated from Severy High School with the Class of 1965.  He married N. Jean Wooderson on March 7, 1966 in Parsons, Kansas.  He retired from Archer Daniels Midland Company in February 2010.  He was part-owner of General Contractors, Inc. with his son, Bradley Taliaferro from Delmar, Iowa.

Clarence enjoyed sports and teasing his grandchildren.  He was always there to help and support his family and complete projects at their homes.  He spent most of his day traveling and spending time with framily.  He was an avid gardener and kept busy with projects around the yard and house.  Clarence was a member of the Severy Baptist Church.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 51 years, N. Jean Taliaferro; four children, Bradley Taliaferro and wife, Theresa of Delmar, Iowa, Nancy L. Taliaferro of Grover, North Carolina, Tonya Conger and husband, Jeff of Wilhee, Wisconsin, and James E. Taliaferro of Clinton, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Whitney, Thai, Tylar, Trista, Tyler, Lexi, Jade, Jacey, and Abby; and a sister, Helen Taliaferro of Augusta, Wisconsin.  He was preceded in death  by his parents, Frank and Wilma Taliaferro.

Visitation hours are set from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Severy Baptist Church, 201 S. Greenwood Avenue, Severy, Kansas.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at the church at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.  Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Severy, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Severy Baptist Church.  Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045 which is in charge of arrangements.
