Beverly Clarice "Bev" Crowell, 82, of Oswego, Kansas, passed away March 8, 2017 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.  She was born January 13, 1935 in Belle Plaine, Kansas to Emory and Margery (Smallwood Moore.

As a young girl, her parents moved to Longton, Kansas where she graduated from Longton High School in 1952.  After high school, Bev worked as  telephone operator until her marriage to Robert Crowell on April 11, 1955.  Together they raised five children and co-owned five newspapers, The Chetopa Advance, The Edna Sun, The Mound Valley Times, The Altamont Journal, and the Oswego-Independent Observer.  She enjoyed reading, planting flowers, traveling to play golf with her friends, and going to church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Crowell of the home; sons, David and wife, Janet Crowell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughters, Theresa and Bart Kelly of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Mary and Roy Karstetter of Joplin, Missouri, Cathy Campbell of Oswego, Kansas, and Patty and Ron Simmons of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Grant Heithaus and Sadie Kelly, Jessie Kelly, Cody and Lindsey Buntin, Russell and Kelsey Stone, Kyle and Jess Simmons, Patrick and Crystal Crowell, Seth Campbell, Kate Campbell, Rick and Mandy Karstetter, and Brandon and Angela Buergin; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.  Preceding Bev in death were her parents; her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Crowell; brother, Carl and Raymond Moore; and grandchildren, Jennifer Crowell and Emily Simmons.

Funeral Mass was held on March 11, 2017 at the Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego, Kansas.  Interment followed at St. Rose Cemetery in Chetopa, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be given to the Mother of God PSR Program and may be sent to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O.
