John Edward Stroble, 83, of Independence, Kansas, passed away January 31, 2017.  He was born on June 10, 1933 in Elk City, Kansas, the son of Charles and Florence (Norris) Stroble.

John grew up around Elk City, Kansas and attended Elk City High School, graduating in the Class of 1950.  In 1954, he married Marjorie Ann Ringle.  They had two children, Pam and Charles.  They later divorced.  On September 25, 1999, John married Barbara Ann Hills.  Together they made their home in Elk City for many years before moving to Independence, Kansas. 

John loved being a mechanic, farming, and tractor pulls.  He was a member of the Elk City Masons, Farm Bureau, and a U.S.D. #446 School Board member.

John is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his daughter, Pam Knoll; his son, Charles Stroble; his stepchildren, Lee Littau, Bobby Littau, and Chris Littau; his grandchildren, Kimy Nash, Kristy Hawkins, Travis Stroble, Lindsay Fuoss, Luke Knowell, Tosh Littau, Shayla Littau, Danielle Martin, Lakin Huckabee, Chance Littau, Jaceley Littau, Megan Littau, Shawn Littau, Caitlyn Littau, and Kirsten Likttau; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janice Parks and Judy Springer.  Those who preceded John in death were his parents; his sisters, Alice Bronnenberg and Margret Raney; his brother, Loren Stroble; and his stepson, Johnny Littau.

A Celebration of Life was held February 6, 2017 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with Keith Springer officiating.  Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas.  Memorials are suggested to the Elk Valley FFA and may be sent in care of Potts Funeral Chapel, 122 S. Penn Avenue, Independence, Kansas 67310 which was in charge of arrangements.
