Pauline M. Miller passed away February 14, 2017 at Sunrise of Lenexa Assisted Living Center in Lenexa, Kansas at the age of 97.  She was born on September 11, 1919 in Grenola, Kansas, one of two children born to David and Ollie Mae (Sweet) Monical.

After graduating from high school, Pauline married Glenn Don Miller on October 10, 1937 in Coffeyville, Kansas.  They celebrated 75 years of marriage before Glenn passed away in 2013.  Making their home in Howard, Kansas, they raised their two children, Stephen and Marilyn.  Pauline was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker along with owning and working as an abstractor at Elk County Abstract Company for many years.

Pauline was a fierce supporter of her family and her community and was comfortable in the kitchen cooking or preserving pickles as well as being involved in clubs, organizations, and her church.  She and Glenn served as Grand Marshals of the Fair Parade in earlier years along with working many years at the Howard Fair.  She was a 50-year member of PEO and served as president several terms.  She was also active in the Women's Auxiliary, the former Howard Mother's Club, and the women's groups at the Howard United Methodist Church.  Serving on the Benson Museum Board of Directors was also a contribution to her community.

Pauline loved her flowers and roses and playing bridge.  She, at one time, was a bridge instructor and held many bridge parties at her home.  Her children recall that she was always involved from the time they were young up until her health prevented her from doing so.  She was a strong Christian woman who stayed strong in her faith all her life.  She worshiped with her Christian family at the Howard United Methodist Church until unable to do so.

Her survivors include her son, Stephen and wife, Sherry of Cyprus, Texas; her daughter, Marilyn and husband, Steve Ewing of Lenexa, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Michael Glenn Miller and Anna Renee Ewing.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; and her brother, Dave Monical.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Howard United Methodist Church, 815 E. Randolph, Howard, Kansas with Pastor Susan Galvan officiating.  A private interment has already been held at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kansas.  Memorials have been established with the Howard United Methodist Church and Ascend Hospice of Overland Park, Kansas and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be offered at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
