James J. "Jim" Eastman's life began on August 5, 1943 in Winfield, Kansas, the son of William and Leah (Wells) Eastman.  He passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Columbia, Missouri while traveling back from visiting family on the East coast.

Jim graduated from Grenola High School Class of 1961 and Wichita State University in 1965 with a business degree.  He was united in marriage to Carolyn Mae Kessinger on October 28, 1967 in Grenola, Kansas.  This year they would have celebrated 50 years together. 

Jim served his country in the United States Army Reserves from 1965-1969.  He retired from The Boeing Company in 2000 after working there for 28 years as a manager and a program planner.  He enjoyed farming, woodworking, tractors, home improvement projects, and helping others with repairs to their equipment, homes, or wherever needed.

His loving family includes his wife, Carolyn of Augusta, Kansas; his sons and their wives, Greg and Sarah Eastman of Arlington, Virginia, Gary and Kristyn Eastman of Olathe, Kansas, and Andy and Amy Eastman of Andover, Kansas; his brothers and their wives, Bill and Beulah Eastman of Wichita, Kansas and Ben and Marcita Eastman of Sacramento, California; his sister, Anne Vaughan of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Grant, Katelyn, Audrey, Ashley, and Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bob Eastman and Dick Eastman; and his sister, Jeanette Eastman.

Jim's family will gather with friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado, Kansas.  His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Haverhill Christian Church, 10275 SW Haverhill Road, Augusta, Kansas with Rev. Nathan Slaughter and Rev. Roger Magli officiating.  Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Grenola Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas.    Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Haverhill Christian Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.  Condolences may be left at www.carlsonkirbymorris.com.  Carlson Funeral Home, 200 S.
