Betty Lou Ryals, 78, a former resident of Longton and Moline, died Wednesday at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.

Visitation will be held at the Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday.

Graveside services are pending with Key Funeral Home in Pryor, Okla.

Mrs. Ryals was born on march 22, 1928 at Longton to Henry and Mable (Smith) Troutman.  She attended schools in the Longton area.

Mrs. Ryals was employed at a dry cleaner, worked as a waitress and was later employed at Moots Hospital in Pryor, Okla.

She was married to William L. Horner, Sr. and Dean Morganroth.  Both marriages later ended.

On Aug. 24, 1972, she married Calvin Ryals at Pryor, and they made their home in Pryor until his death in 1992.  She returned to Kansas after the death of her husband and was a resident of the Elk Manor Nursing Home in Moline before recently transferring to Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.

Mrs. Ryals was a member of the Pleasant View Southern Baptist Church in Pryor and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include three sons, James Horner, Coffeyville; Terry Horner, Clarksville, Tenn.; and Douglas Morganroth, Claremore, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Castleberry, Owasso, Okla.; a stepson, Stanley Ryals, Pryor; a brother, Bill Troutman, Salina; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
