Margaret D. (Fee) Lilley passed away on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at Medicalodge in Eureka, at the age of 95.

Margaret was born to G. W. and Sarah Frances (Taylor) Fee on Dec. 20, 1911, the youngest of six children.  She was a native of Piedmont, and a 1929 graduate of Piedmont High School.

After graduation, she attended Pittsburg College for her Teacher's Manual Training certificate.  Margaret taught in the one-room school districts of Hawthorne and Harmony.

On May 10, 1933, she was united in marriage to John Morton Lilley.  To this union, two daughters were born. Morton and Margaret were married sixty-four years and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1997.

Margaret was a loyal and active resident of Piedmont.  She was a life-long member of the Piedmont United Methodist Church and the United Methodist women.

The celebration of her life was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Rev. Diana Hill of the First United Methodist Church officating.  Interment followed in Piedmont Cemetery.  The viewing was held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Eureka Public Library or the Greenwood County Historical Society Museum.  Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P. O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045.
