Betty Ann (Hinkle) Gillett, 80, passed away January 22, 2017 in Sedan, Kansas.  She was born June 5, 1936 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Chester and Viola Hinkle.

Betty was raised in Guthrie, Oklahoma and went to the Guthrie schools.  On June 28, 1955, she married Robert Gillett, and to this union was born five children, Barney, Carolyn, Tamara, Brenda, and Neomia.  After 56 years, the marriage ended and she moved to Howard, Kansas to be closer to family.  She enjoyed Hallmark movies, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, flower gardening, and traveling the world.  She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and volunteer work.

Betty was a Sunday School teacher at her church in Irrogon, Oregon and volunteered at Senior Center, the Senior Coffee trailer, and the Irrigon Watermelon Festival.  She was always busy and never knew how to say "no" when someone needed her help.  She was an honorary member of the Future Farmers of America.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Carolyn, Tamara, Brenda, and Neomia; her son, Barney; her brother, Floyd Hinkle; her half-sisters, Donna and Nancy; her half-brothers, Gene and Phil; her brothers-in-law, Bill Gillett (Clara) and Mike Gillett (Gwen); 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Viola Hinkle; her former husband, Robert Gillett; Robert's parents, Vernon and Helen Gillett; her aunt and uncle, Cliff and Helen Hinkle; her brother-in-law, Charles Gillett; her stepmother, Ruby Hinkle; and a niece and nephew.

Cremation has been requested.  Inurnment at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kansas will be held privately at a later date.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the Howard United Methodist Church or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Arrangements are being made with Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
