The Solution to Healthcare Reform . . .

What's the solution? It's simple. Get government completely out of the healthcare industry where they don't belong. Don't try to write whole new policies. Let the insurance companies create policies to fit the market's needs. Let them advertise for customers. Let them fight it out among themselves in the market place and let the customers choose which company has the policy that fits their needs.

Repeal Obamacare with no government replacement and watch how fast and creatively these insurance companies rush to the solution, just like every industry, including car insurance.

Congress, just repeal Obamacare and let the free market work for everyone. Now, let's get on with draining the rest of the swamp!

Wake-up!

All good points made by DeWeese. I don't understand why supposedly conservative Rand Paul and others like him, insist on a replacement plan. Why not let a free market be the replacement plan? Yes, the government may need to erase a few additional laws to make the medical marketplace free. Like removing barriers to insurance companies operating in numerous states. Make it so, Trump. Ha! Ha! Ha!

But that is not enough for quality health care in this country. What is called Healthcare is actually Illness Management. The allopathic medical community, taken as a whole, does not want anyone's chronic illness to get better. Healthcare today is directed at allowing chronic illnesses to get worse, claiming a cure is not available. And, of course that system adds billions of dollars of black ink to a ledger, while people with chronic illnesses deteriorate, and eventually die as the drugs they are fed by the medical industry become less and less effective.

I'm not sure how to change that money-driven approach to 'wellness'. However, a good start would be a free market where Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Acupuncture, and the many other 'alternative' modalities could compete with our ingrained allopathy on a 'level playing field'. And to do that some easing of licensing restrictions may be required. Medicine has come so far down the socialist path, repealing Obamacare would be a drop in the bucket of needed change.

My insurance does pay for alternative medicine. Our problem here is not barriers to insurance companies, but so few customers that they pull up stakes and leave. That could be improved. For many, loosening up on what is considered "out of system" would help too. Also being able to actually shop costs would be big help to many...including drugs."They" say it's doable, but just try to get a straight answer.

Wake-up!

I imagine there is a world of options available. Does your insurance allow an acupuncturist or a homeopath to be your primary care provider? Does it pay for unlimited trips to an acupuncturist or naturopath? How about massage,  Rolfing, and other 'touch-for-health' modalities? Can you make 'alternative' appointments on your own, as you desire, or do you need a referral?

Yep, all those should be 'doable' and should be done! Why haven't those changes been made. Who's to profit from the existing system?

I don't need referrals and I wouldn't want a Chiropractor as my primary, but my insurance would cover it. Not sure about unlimited, I'd have to read my booklet. Certain kinds of massage, as part of physical therapy, is covered for sure, as is heat therapy and electrical therapy. Acupuncture and homeopathy are also covered.

Ahh, nice policy. I have a wonderful mission for you. Take your insurance plan as a template, talk to your influential friends in- and out-side government, and have the Veterans' Administration adopt the template without modification. That would free up Vets to see the doctor of their choice, allopathic or otherwise. And the VA Health Services could be reduced to nothing more than a disbursing office. Very little paperwork, a huge workforce reduction, and better health care.

That would be nice, but the services would still be unavailable to some. Al was refused many years ago because he made too much $ and could get insurance through his job. Not a bad problem to have though. I have heard some rumblings about VA, we know it, being phased out, but one never knows what to believe any more.
