James Austin Fulmer, age 62 of Caney, Kansas, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born June 28, 1954 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of James Abner and Emily Jo (Chapman) Fulmer.

James graduated from Ellington, Missouri High School Class of 1974.  After high school, James served in the United States Air Force.  He drove a semi in Rolla, Missouri for several years and also worked at Lafarge Cement Plant.  Before his battle with cancer, James loved to fish and hunt.  He enjoyed playing musical instruments, especially his guitar.  He enjoyed photography and was a history buff.  Most importantly, James loved being with his family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Misty Lowry and husband, Jimmie J. of Neodesha, Kansas; his son, Earl James Fulmer of Seattle, Washington; his sisters, Debbie Jo Watson of Springfield, Missouri, Marilyn Grimsly of Shreveport, Louisiana, Lois Hogan of Longton, Kansas, and Virginia Brown of Fredonia, Kansas; and 4 grandchildren.  James was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Wayne Fulmer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas.  Cremation will follow with private family burial at a later date.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Memorials have been suggested to the charity of your choice and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
