Knut Haaken Schaad, age 80, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Medicalodge in Independence, Kansas.  He was born on August 31, 1936 to parents Gunner and Astrid (Knudson) Schaad in Oslo, Norway.

Knut became a United States citizen and served in the United States Air Force before becoming a professional truck driver for Prime, Inc.  He fully retired in 2000, and on October 1, 2006, he married Linda Kay Chapman at the Moline United Methodist Church in Moline, Kansas.  Knut was a member of the Howard Lions Club, was involved with the Howard Chamber of Commerce, and participated in several events with the Elk County Community Choir.  He also was often put in charge of the Annual Crop Walk sponsored by the United Methodist Church of Howard.

Knut was passionate about his love of music, especially the classical and spiritual genre, and he had also collected little model cars for many years.  His love for his dogs, Jonah the black Lab, Sparky, Daisy, and Brownie was also quite evident as he loved playing with them.

Knut leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife, Linda of the home in Howard, Kansas; his brother, Roar Schaad of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rolf Schaad.  Cremation has been effected, and a private memorial will be held at a later date.
