Wayne Eugene Boulanger, 78, of Independence, Kansas, passed away on June 4, 2016 at his home.  He was born in Russell, Kansas to Joseph P. and Lucille V. (Ensley) Boulanger.

Wayne attended Russell Public Schools, and then the family moved to the Elk Falls, Kansas area where Wayne attended Elk Falls High School from 1951-1955.  After high school, Wayne married Nancy Jo Donnelly, and the couple had two children, Mike and Sally.  Wayne was employed by Freeto Construction from 1959-1965, and while employed, he attended Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas where he graduated in 1969.  He then attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where he received his Electrical Engineering Degree in 1971.  Following graduation from KSU, Wayne found employment with MEC in Neodesha, Kansas from 1971-1975, Grate White Performance from 1975-1984, KAAP in Parsons, Kansas 1984-1989 and retired from Farmland Industries in 1998.

Nancy passed away on February 24, 1991.  Wayne married Gertrude Donnelly on February 14, 1992 in Independence, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude of the home; five children, Mike Boulanger and companion, Karen Duncan of Erie, Kansas, Sally Boulanger of Independence, Kansas, Debbie (Tom) Kelly of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Pam (Randy) Henton of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Doug (Anita) Donnelly of Thayer, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Derek Pearson, Destiny Cooley, Brian Muncy, Megan Nieding, Ryan Nieding, Emily Ezelle, and Matt Henten; nine great-grandchildren, Lexi, Kamdyn, Emmett, Kenzley, Niomi, Monroe, Elisha, Aubrey, and Brylee; one brother, Phillip (Maria) Boulanger of Brunswick, Georgia; and one sister, Patricia "Pat" (Joe) Corle of Moline, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; two granddaughters, Katie Pearson and Lauren Boulanger; one brother, Edward "Ed" Boulanger; and one sister, Evelyn Laurie.

Services were held on June 9, 2016 at First Church of the Nazarene in Independence, Kansas with Rev. Bill Knight officiating.  Burial followed in the Havana Cemetery in Havana, Kansas.
