Carol A. Pinckney, age 65, of Independence, Kansas, died Monday, March 26, 2016 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Carol was born on January 22, 1951 in Sedan, Kansas, the daughter of Freddie James and Norma June (Horn) Book.

Carol was a member of the last class that graduated from Moline High School in Moline, Kansas.  After high school, she went to Butler County Community College to become a cosmetologist.  She had also worked many years at her family's store, Fred's IGA in Moline until it was destroyed by a fire.  She worked several years doing accounting work for Dave's Body Shop and Wrecker Service and as a bus assistant for the Independence School District.

Carol was a lifetime member of the Moline United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and the Moline Alumni.  Most of all, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Crystal Clemons of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; her son, Michael Pinckney of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and two grandchildren, Keagan and Kayla Clemons.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jon David Book.

Cremation has been requested.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Moline, Kansas with Pastor Dorothy Ellsworth officiating.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Memorials have been suggested to the Moline United Methodist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
