Jean Eloise Grundy of Eureka, Kansas died March 12, 2016 at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 99.  She was born March 15, 1916 in Piedmont, Kansas, the daughter of Harold W. and Addie (Rhea) Colyer.

Jean lived in rural Piedmont and attend Piedmont Grade School and graduated from Piedmont High School as Valedictorian.  She then attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas, completing a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1966.  One August 17, 1937, she was united in marriage to John Lowell Grundy in El Dorado, Kansas.  They made their home in Climax, Kansas.

Jean was a school teacher for 33 years all around Greenwood County, Kansas.  She was a member of the Climax United Methodist Church where she was also the organist.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Climax Lodge #387 and Eureka Lodge #56, Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Sorosis Study Club.

Jean is survived by one sister, Hope Eisenback and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her brother, Robert R. Colyer; and her sister, Margaret Gragg.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, Kansas with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Climax United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, Visitation hours are set from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jean Grundy Memorial Scholarship Fund or to the Climax United Methodist Church.  Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, 121 N. Oak Street, Eureka, Kansas 67045 which is in charge of arrangements.
