A Celebration of Life service was held at Legacy Village on Feb. 3., with her children and grandchildren, friends from Legacy Village.  Pastor Steve Reinhard, friends from Mountain Vista United Methodist Church and Silverado Hospice friends present.

Shirley was born at Elk Falls, Kans. on April 19, 1934 to Leroy E. and Alice C. Olson.  She was baptized at an early age in the Elk Falls Methodist Church, and grew up in the Moline United Methodist Church.

She completed her elementary schooling in the Moline Grade School and graduated from Moline High School in 1952.  She went to business school in Wichita and graduated from the American Business College and worked as a secretary in the office of Lewis Drilling Company.

In 1955 Shirley met and married Hollis Griffin Robison, who was statined at McConnell Air Force Base during the Korean War.  They moved to Houston, Texas where she worked in the office at the University of Houston while her husband was continuing his education as a petroleum engineer.

To this union, three chidlren were born.  Two daughters, Alicia Kay and Kerry Denise, and one son, Hollis Griffin Jr.

When their children were in elementary school, Shirley worked as secretary and registrar in the office of Post Elementary and jersey Village High School in Houston.  When the chidlren left home seeking their own careers, she and her husband divorced.

Since Shirley had contact in her work with Spanish speaking people, she took a course in the Spanish language and was awarded a Certificate of Completion in Conversational Spanish from Houston Community College in 1980.  She continued working in the Houston school system as a secretary in the office of Region IV Service Center, which serviced the school districts thoroughout Harris County.

In 1996, she retired and came to Moline, Kans. to live with her mother for nearly two years, but she returned to Houston where her heart was and had been for 40 years.

She lived a while in San Antonio, Texas, where her daughter and family were, before moving to Salt Lake City to live with her son.

Shirley had an out-going personality, loved people, and made friends wherever she lived.  She loved music and playing the piano, and she loved nature and animals, especially her dog "LuLu".  Above all, though, was her unconditional love for her chidlren and grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Alicia and Craig Dittmar of Greer, S.C., Kerry Morriss of Los Angeles Calif., and Major Hollis Griffin Robinson of Salt Lake City, Utah., three grandsons, two granddaughters, numerous counsins, and her mother, Alice Olson of Moline.
