General John J. Pershing was one of only two six-star generals this country has ever had. Who was the other one? A hint. He never lived to know about it.

This is from Snopes.com but was mentioned by Donald Trump, apparently today.

HOW TO STOP ISLAMIC TERRORISTS . . . it worked once in our History . . .

Once in US history an episode of Islamic terrorism was very quickly stopped. It happened in the Philippines about 1911, when Gen. John J. Pershing was in command of the garrison. There had been numerous Islamic terrorist attacks, so "Black Jack" told his boys to catch the perps and teach them a lesson.

Forced to dig their own graves, the terrorists were all tied to posts, execution style. The US soldiers then brought in pigs and slaughtered them, rubbing their bullets in the blood and fat. Thus, the terrorists were terrorized; they saw that they would be contaminated with hogs' blood. This would mean that they could not enter Heaven, even if they died as terrorist martyrs.

All but one was shot, their bodies dumped into the grave, and the hog guts dumped atop the bodies. The lone survivor was allowed to escape back to the terrorist camp and tell his brethren what happened to the others. This brought a stop to terrorism in the Philippines for the next 50 years.

Pointing a gun into the face of Islamic terrorists won't make them flinch. They welcome the chance to die for Allah. Like Gen. Pershing, we must show them that they won't get to Muslim heaven (which they believe has an endless supply of virgins) but instead will die with the hated pigs of the devil.

Waldo it was George Washington, Washington did not belong to any Political Party. In my opinion he was the Best General and the Best President in this Country's History. Although he belonged to no Political Party, in reading what he did for his Country and his Political Philosopy, If it were today he Would be a Republican.

You got the man right, however, it was not until 1976 that he received the honor. With the Pershing rank and  the five star generals, Congress rather belatedly decided to grant him the rank so that he would never be outranked.

The proposed insignia for a six star is locked up in the Pentagon somewhere and consists of five stars in a circle with a single star within the circle.

This seems rather weird to me as there would be more ranks of general than there are ranks of sergeants. I doubt there will be anymore five star generals or admirals, though.

Omar Bradley was the last five star and he lived out his life in government quarters at Ft Bliss, TX. Even though he retired from the Army in 1953, he continued to draw full five star salary and received the free housing in Texas.

He was born in Missouri about 150 miles from my old hometown of Independence.

I recall hearing that the powers at Ft Bliss got into a lot of hot water because they spent more money on remodeling his housing than the law allowed.

That's like thinking that Jefferson Davis or Thomas Jefferson would be Republicans today.   The ideology of the Republicans isn't like that of George Washington.  Never has been.  Lincoln created a "new nation" from the States.  Lincoln nationalized America.  You're now citizens of the USA, not citizens of your State.  (You are owned by the USA).

Today's Democrats are reconstructed as shown the way by the Republicans.  Today's Democrats are not even close to being Jeffersonian Democrats.

The Republicans don't even resemble the Founders.  The Republicans are like the British that George Washington defeated.

Next thing you know someone will say that Obama is like George Washington.
